Flavor of the Week #13

Scuba
www.myspace.com/paulhotflush
( ;D --> Scuba, aka Paul Rose, has been at the forefront of the dubstep scene since its birth. Having founded the innovative and influential Hotflush Recordings label in 2003, he has continually brought colour and depth to an advancing genre, expanding its sonic structure and increasing its influence on the wider electronic scene. Through Scuba and seminal work by central figures including Distance, Vex d and more recently Mount Kimbie and Joy Orbison, Hotflush remains crucial to the immediate moment and the developing future of the most exciting aspects of electronic music.)
Personality

( ;D --> Scuba's work has always been a bit dark, precise in the rhythms, conscious of overall atmosphere. This album see's a shift further towards a style of dub-tech that also draws on dub-house, psytrance, drum and bass, and even synthpop in some places.)

Dr.Nojoke

( ;D --> Dr.Nojoke was born in Berlin and stayed there since then. After many and wild experiments at home and experiences with bands he started to work solo under his moniker Dr.Nojoke. Since 2005 Dr.Nojoke has been working on technoid sound-sculptures based on his archive of self-made sound-and field-recordings. He defines a funky, minimal, quirky, experimental micro-cut-up-music, he calls Clikno.)

Solvent
www.myspace.com/solventcity
( ;D --> For over a decade, Jason Amm’s work as Solvent has neatly defied categorization. His music is too sweetly melodic for techno or acid, his compositions too fiendishly detailed for synth-pop. He was too steeped in the sounds of the ‘80s to participate in the incipient IDM scene; he was briefly lumped in with the short-lived electroclash movement, only to outlive it; he’s played “minimal wave” parties and goth clubs, indie-rock shows and techno all-nighters. But even as words fail in the face of Solvent’s music, its pleasures are anything but elusive.)

Új Látásmód Fúzió

( ;D --> Új Látásmód Fúzió - established in 1992 - is a cult-band in the obscure Hungarian Synth-Wave scene. In the early 90's they released a lot of raw trashy dadaistic cassette tapes. Their sound stretches from minimal synth-pop to a kind of absurd kitschy cabaret. The songs are with minimalistic soundscapes, gloomy melodies, special poetic lyrics and an ominous baritone voice - represented with charmed rigid expressions.)
