Flavor of the week #52

Salem
www.myspace.com/s4lem
( ;D --> Salem’s sound, nearly impossible to describe using mere words, derives from the early 90′s “Chopped and Screwed” remix techniques of DJ Screw/Swishahouse hip-hop — demonic, slowed-down vocals and tempos combined with Chicago juke/footwork and dubstep/grime derived beats layered on top of a darkwave/juke-triphop wall of sound that incorporates elements of noise, drone, industrial and dream-pop. With this demented fusion, Salem pioneered a sound that recontextualized their forebearers straight into a nihilistic k-hole.)

Shriekback

( ;D --> The sign of a great band is that it can manage to create, then expand on, it’s own own inimitable world using a trademark sound which, although recognisable, never ceases to grow and develop. Now approaching their 30th anniversary, Shriekback can be counted as one of those rare bands; at ease in their own skins with nothing to prove but everything to explore.)

Biosphere
www.biosphere.no
( ;D --> Biosphere is the main recording name of Geir Jenssen (born 1962), a Norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient electronic music. He is well known for his "ambient techno" and "arctic ambient" styles, his use of music loops, and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. His track "Novelty Waves" was used for the 1995 campaign of Levi's. His 1997 album Substrata was voted by www.hyperreal.org as one of the all time classic ambient albums.)
( ;D --> Our biosphere is the global sum of all ecosystems. It can also be called the zone of life on Earth, a closed (apart from solar and cosmic radiation) and self-regulating system.)
